Our environmental seals of approval

It is important to protect our environment because Mama Earth needs us, not to collect seals for it. And yet, we are pleased that our products bear some of the most important environmental seals of approval. Why? Because this means that we might have done something right in contributing, however little, to a more sustainable future.

Here is a brief overview of our eco-labels:

Blauer Engel

The “Blauer Engel”, or “Blue Angel”, has been the German government's ecolabel since 1978. The Blue Angel sets very high standards for environmentally friendly product design and has proven itself over the past decades as a reliable guide for more sustainable consumption.

The most famous product bearing the “Blaue Engel” is recycled paper made from 100% waste paper.

Our recycled Impact Pure paper carries this environmental seal of approval.

FSC

FSC, which stands for ”Forest Stewardship Council“, is a system that allows businesses and consumers to identify, purchase and use wood, paper and other forest products made with materials from well-managed forests and/or recycled sources.

The FSC is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting responsible forestry. FSC certifies forests all over the world to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards.

A selection of our covers, as well as our paper made from fruit residuals, carry this environmental seal of approval.

Österr. Umweltzeichen

The “Austrian Ecolabel” is an official seal of approval for ecological economics awarded by the Austrian government. By labelling environmentally friendly products and services, the Austrian Ecolabel aims to draw public attention to the environmentally harmful production and disposal of many consumer goods.

Since 1990, the Austrian Ecolabel has been awarded to products and services that are more environmentally friendly than their competition.

Our recycled Impact Pure paper carries the Austrian Ecolabel seal of approval.

Nordic Swan

The Nordic Eco Label, also known as Nordic Swan Eco Label, was established in 1989 by the Nordic Council of Ministers and is the official ecolabel of Nordic countries. Today, it is possible to obtain a certification with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel for approx. 60 different product groups comprising more than 200 different product types.

The Nordic Swan Ecolabel follows the ISO 14024 standard and is a Type 1 ecolabel. Conducted by a third party, it evaluates a product's impact on the environment compared to competitive products. It considers a product's entire life cycle, in order to guarantee, among others, that climate requirements are taken into account and carbon emissions are limited.

Our recycled Impact Pure paper carries the Nordic Swan seal of approval.

Global Recycled Standard

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) was developed in 2008 as an international, voluntary, full product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product. The standard applies to the entire supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content, and labeling. GRS covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading, and distribution of all products made with a minimum of 20% recycled material.

The standard supports companies looking to verify the recycled content of their products, as well as the social, environmental, and chemical practices in their production.

Our selection of Biogreen Covers, the “Apple“ Leather, and our paper made from fruit residuals all carry the GRS seal of approval.

PETA-Approved Vegan

The PETA-Approved Vegan certification ensures that no animal, directly or indirectly, is used or abused for the processing and production of the respective labeled product. It helps consumers identify vegan materials and items without any animal suffering.

Textiles that do not contain animal materials such as fur, leather, silk or animal components (e.g., animal-derived dyes or adhesives) are labeled with this certification.

Almost all our fabric based covers carry the PETA-Approved Vegan seal of approval.

PEFC

“The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes“ (PEFC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management. With the PEFC seal of approval, companies set an example for the forests of the future. The PEFC certificate guarantees that wood as a raw material comes only from sustainably managed forests.

PEFC confirms that high ecological and social standards are met in the use of forests. This also guarantees that wood is not sourced illegally and that forests are not overexploited.

Our recycled Impact Pure paper carries the PEFC seal of approval.
